Masuma Rahman Nabila is one of the new faces in Bangladeshi Movie Industry Dhallywood. She has acted in her debut movie Aynabaji with Chanchal Chowdhury and has come in huge limelight. However, she is not new to the Television media. She has acted in a number of TVCs and Dramas in her short career so far.
Nabila was born on 8th April, 1997. Her father is Lutfar Rahman and mother is Sahana Chowdhury. She is the eldest child of her parents. She has one brother named Afnan and one sister named Wafa Rahman. Although her parents were from Chittagong, Bangladesh, she was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia due to her father’s job as an auditing officer of a private company. She completed her SSC from Chittagong and moved to Dhaka to study HSC in Viqarunnisa Noon High School & College. She completed her BA (Honors) in English from BRAC University. Currently, she lives in Dhaka with her mother and siblings.
Masuma Rahman Nabila had no plan to come to modeling from her childhood. Initially, she wanted to be a university lecturer. She started her career in a TVC of Sharp Blade back in 2006. That was directed by famous director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. She also appeared in some other TVCs of Robi, Fair & Lovely, Banglalink in 2006. She also started anchoring in a TV show “Ebong Class Er Baire” on Banglavision. She anchored many programs during the next 10 years. Her advice to new anchors: Just be you – because that’s being unique!
Nabila’s father was her most favorite person. He passed away after 8 months since their return to Bangladesh. Initially after returning to Bangladesh, she faced lots of problems to adapt to the new place, new people, and new food habits. She always remains positive and gets inspiration from positive things.
The favorite novel of her is Samaresh Mazumder’s ‘Satkahon”. “Fifty First Dates” or any type of romantic cinema is her favorite movies.
Nabila wants her boyfriend to be someone with whom she can share anything. He should be friendly and talk in proper pronunciation. His company should not be boring. She is planning to get married in the year 2017. She is a friendly person and she thinks it is her best quality.
She acted in a TV serial named “Five Female Friends”. It was telecast on GTV from June 2015 to February 2016. The serial had more than 150 episodes. Other actresses of the serial were Maria Nur, Sreya Sharbajoya , Jannatul Ferdous Piya and DJ Sonica. The drama became quite popular in Bangladesh.
In an interview, Nabila said that she enjoys anchoring live events. Nabila is a brand ambassador for Vatika Naturals Europe. She enjoys free-hand exercise and walking. Her favorite midnight snack is chocolates.
Before Aynabaji, Nabila was also approached to work in movies but she refused those offers because she was not interested working in the commercial cinemas. Nabila was approached by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury by chance. Amitabh Reza Chowdhury is also her most favorite director and her role in Aynabaji is her dream role. For the role, Amitabh Reza Chowdhury was looking for a young girl, who would look beautiful without makeup.
In Aynabaji, Nabila’s character Hridy is an average Bangladeshi girl. Chanchal Chowdhury’s character’s name is Ayna. The two live in the same area and fall in love with each other. Before meeting Hridy, Ayna was not a good person. After falling in love with Hridy, he wanted to change her life.
When Chanchal Chowdhury was selected for the male lead, they called Nabila again and explained the character and plot. Hridy’s character shared many similarities with Nabila in real life. So, she decided to go ahead and do the movie.
To prepare for her role, Nabila read books and watched other movies. She also did training on acting, mouth exercises, and dialogue delivery. To become familiar with the environment, Nabila and Chanchal did a pre-shoot location visit. For both of them, it was a new experience. No other movie maker did such a thing.
While shooting, Nabila was very excited. She often made mistakes and did re-takes but when Amitabh shouted “superb” she became very happy. Aynabaji was shot for three months. The maximum shooting was in Puran Dhaka and a minor portion in Manikganj.
Nabila has no clear plan to continue acting in movies but if she gets a good character, good script, she would definitely work in the cinema.
